How we contact candidates

LocalVote invites every candidate to describe themselves in their own words — and treats everyone exactly the same. This page explains what we ask, who we invite, and when, so you can see that the process is fair.

The invitation

We’re currently reaching out to candidates. We’re in the process of emailing the questionnaire below to every candidate in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Peachland and Lake Country for whom we can find a public email address — with the same questions and the same deadline for everyone. We’ll note the date the invitations went out here once they’re sent.

Every candidate receives the identical questions, the same space to answer, and the same deadline. Answers are published in the candidate's own words — we don't edit or add commentary, and only lightly trim to fit length limits. Candidates who haven't published an email address couldn't be reached directly; that's a limitation on our side, not a reflection on them.

What we ask

1. How long have you lived in the community?
2. What is your current occupation and work background?
3. What experience — business, governance, boards, community leadership — has prepared you for this role?
4. Have you run for or held elected office before? Any provincial or federal party affiliation you'd like voters to know about? (optional)
5. What are the three most important issues you'd focus on — and for each, what specifically would you do about it?
6. In your own words, why should someone vote for you?

Candidates may also submit a headshot. That's the whole questionnaire — the same for everyone.

Response status

As answers come in, each candidate will be listed here in one of three plain states:

• Responded — completed the questionnaire; their answers appear on their profile.
• Invited — no response yet — received the invitation but hasn't answered.
• No public email found — we couldn't find a way to reach them directly.

These are stated as neutral facts. "No response" and "couldn't be reached" are kept separate on purpose — they're very different things.
